"Morning Glory", pastel 11x18

I just picked up this painting from the 43rd Annual Valley Art Center Exhibition in Chagrin Falls, OH.  My subject matter was the clouds over a shopping center I saw while walking into the grocery store one morning this fall. I pulled out my faithful cell phone and started snapping pics. The clouds hung so beautifully over the stores, but sorry architecture.. they deserved to be hanging over a more natural setting!

"In the Red at Bridal Veil Falls" , 6x18, pastel

I loved taking my Plein Air class to sites around Cleveland this fall.  We painted a lake in the thick fog, on the edge of a gorgeous gorge , and this scene at the base of a loooong stairway down to this beautiful waterfall that's part of the Metro Park system. It was late fall and a crisp day as we teetered on the stairway landings to catch our views.   This was my demo, mostly done on location and then tweaked with a stroke or two back at my studio. Painted on Ampersand pastel board with a wide range of soft pastel brands.

California Nocturne No.2, 11x14, pastel

Here is one of my California Nocturne series, based on videos my kids who live in and around San Francisco send me. I freeze frame the video and paint the composition just as I like it. It's sort of the next best thing to being there!  They hike up in the hills near Palo Alto after work, and catch some beautiful, serene sunsets in the dry grasses that are so typical of the California landscape.

$400. Framed

Alone at Brandywine Falls, 9x12 ,Oil on board

This is the first painting available as part of my Fall Studio Clean Out Sale!

(Check back for bi-weekly postings...email me to purchase).

I took my plein air class to this beautiful part of the Cleveland Metroparks over the summer and they all did such great work. It was a big group and although I set up for a demo, darn it.... I got so busy teaching I didn't have time to paint!! So I went back a few days later, early in the morning all by my lonesome, and had a delightful time painting this magnificent waterfall.

"Kat in the Yellow Hat", pastel 11x14

I had such a good time doing this quick study of one of my favorite models, Katherine. Her pose reminded me of the stylized paintings my sisters and I had on our bedroom walls in the 60's.  Done on Ampersand Pastel Board. $100. unframed. $150. framed.

Self Portrait in Silver, pastel 12x16

 $650. unframed/ $800.doubled mat and frame

I had such a good time setting up this still life and didn't realize until I really got into it and started playing with the reflections, that it was a self portrait. Someone suggested I call it, "Pitcher of Susie".

Red Lipstick, oil, 18x24

Here's what's on my easel this week.  I started this last month and am excited to find the time this week to work on it.  One of my favorite models, Amelea, is wearing a satin robe that my mom wore in the 1940's.  I played dress up in it as a child , but it somehow has remained in perfect condition, and a "prop" that's near and dear to my heart!
